Hi, when we were staying at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, I noticed the gorgeous paintings. They are quaint pictures of 18th century pastoral scenes, and maybe not everyone's style but a heck of a lot better than the boring corporate hotel "art" in most hotels. When I remarked how pretty they were, the bellman said get a good look because they are coming down and the lobby is getting remodeled. I know this isn't the biggest problem in the world but I hope this isn't true! Anyone know?

We don't need no stinkin' Californio murals ... we don't have history ... none of that old Spanish stuff. All I care about is where I can find some $4 toast! / sarc

Yeah, old papa Doug Manchester (owner of the Grand Hyatt) isn't one for keeping historical treasures. Witness what he did to our local newspaper, the San Diego Union Tribune. Now called the Los Angeles (san diego) UT.

History, stand aside. Papa Doug is coming through!

Doug Manchester sold the Grand Hyatt 4 years ago.

Thanks for that, John.

He also sold the UT too. But the damage was already done.
