Hi,

We are close to renting in the Halcyon neighborhood in Carmel Valley and would like some thoughts on the area. We are renting without seeing (although we did drive through Carmel Valley a few weeks ago) from Chicago. We do have two young kids, so we think Carmel Valley in general will be fine, but wanted to see if anyone lives or has lived in Halcyon in particular.

Thanks!

Halcyon is a nice enough townhouse complex; has a nice pool area. Haven't lived there but have a number of friends who have or still live there. It's directly across the street from the K-3 elementary school (Carmel Creek, which is top notch) and a short walk to the 4-6 grade elementary school (also top notch) as well as the middle and high schools if you were to stay long term. Associated with Carmel Creek Elementary is a very nice park with kids playgrounds and baseball and volleyball fields. It's also walking distance to the local shopping mall (supermarkets, restaurants, movie theatre, haircuts, etc). Carmel Valley in general is very safe and a great place to raise kids. Happy to provide more info if requested.

why would you name a housing development after a San Diego mental health/psych ward?
