Hey guys. Moving out on July 30th. I have gotten some varied answers on this one. When you move from another state to SD, do you have to take the written test to get a driver's license or do you just go to motor vehicle and they give you one on the spot?
Thanks.

You have to take the written test and pass an eye exam. I recommend making an appointment - you won't have to wait in a long line. It can be done online ( making the appointment that is - not the test).

Yep...you have to take a written test. You also need other info to take with you. You will need a social security card, certified birth certificate, a marriage certificate to show the change of last name or, if you've gotten divorced and don't have a marriage certificate, a certified copy of a divorce decree. If you don't take all the info with you, you'll be turned away. It is also best to schedule the appointment online.
