I stopped by Costco today to get some frozen yogurt at the food court. They don't have it anymore, it's been replaced with a cup of vanilla ice cream, and the cashier scanned my card when I ordered.

Mission Valley. And there's a sign on the wall now that states that you have to have a membership to use the food court now.

Mission Valley is a non-union store. So store rules are slightly different. Under the rules I remember, both the food court and the pharmacy did not require a Costco membership.

From a business perspective that makes sense. The food is set below market price to draw in members who eat and go in to shop. Why subsidize people who come in to just eat and leave.

I didn't know that some stores were union and non-union. I just posted the information, and the sign said that it was effective as of April 6.

CD won't let me post it because I posted it in Food and Drink first.

Basically, the old Price Club stores are union. The new Costco stores are non-union. The Morena Blvd store is union. So is the Santee store. Mission Valley is non-union. Union Costco stores have much older start date employee start dates as indicated on their badge. The Morena Store has several silver and gold card employees. You usually don't see those badges in the new Costco stores.

None of the Costco pharmacies, nor alcohol purchases in store, require a membership as it’s illegal under California law (and several other states too) to require a membership for theses purchases.

This is what the sign says:

"Effective April 6, 2020, an active Costco membership card will be required to purchase items from our food court."
