If you were in your late 30s, with two young kids, and a $1.5m budget for a house, which part of Encinitas would you live in?

Things that are important to us ...

* great schools
* proximity to the beach
* proximity to parks
* proximity to downtown/restaurants

We both work from home, so we don't have any commute to worry about.

So, what's the best place to live in Encinitas for young families?

P.S. We are also considering Carlsbad, as it seems you can get a bit more bang for your buck there.
Oh - I am totally following your thread here - we want to do the same - take an Air BNB and look for a longer term rental or purchase. Our budget is a little less - maybe 1.3 max. Sorry I can't help you much, but would love to know how you went about doing this -where did you move from? We are in Utah.

The OP hasn't been on here since September, so you're better off starting your own thread to get more responses.

Encinitas and Carlsbad are great options depending on exactly what you're looking for. If you guys are only considering Encinitas how close to the beach do you need to be? Do you want to walk or have to drive for restaurants and coffee shops etc.? Have you guys also checked out Carmel Valley or Solana Beach? Reach out and I can provide specifics information regarding preferred areas.
