I ride every day and this doesn't make any sense at all. Almost "calming circles" Kray. It's scary enough on a bike but this is just challenging motorists to figure out what to do....

I have a feeling "what to do" will involve having head-on collisions

Yup, feel like Gloria is trying to pull a fast one on his constituents. Mira Mesa is not Normal Heights/North Park/Hillcrest. It is a family neighborhood and VERY car centric.

I figured that had to be an April fool's joke or something. Just a single lane for both directions of travel??? What could go wrong? And what if there is a bike next to you when you need to swerve? Either hit the oncoming car head-on or hit the bicyclist. It's like Sophie's Choice.

Seriously, doesn't all types of vehicle lane design have to be governed by driving laws/code? Seems they just made something up and said "let's try this".

A single lane in the middle is the dumbest thing ever. Don't try that crap again anywhere else.

As an avid cyclist, looks dumb.

If would be safer to remove all street parking from the curb-line, and give the people 2 car lanes and 2 bike lanes, with a traditional solid double yellow center painted line.

With no marked center line, you're supposed to drive as far right in the physical lane as possible. Applying that to this confusing mess they created in Mira Mesa, there's no way for a driver to manage it without just driving in the intended bike portion the whole time.

Dumbest thing ever.
