We are applying to rent a home in Point Loma on Caminito Dehesa St. near Nimitz and Famosa across from Cleator Community Park.

Also, what can you tell me about Cleator Park? Is this where our daughter will play U8 soccer? And speaking of soccer, what are the soccer clubs to choose from besides YMCA soccer?

Thanks again! All of the responders so far have been SO helpful to us.

I used to drive Catalina / Famosa onto Nimitz a lot. Lots of multi-family housing with some retail in that area. A safe area but a little rundown looking.

Many people would probably consider that area part of Ocean Beach with a zip of 92107. Some may call it Loma Portal or Point Loma Heights. 92106 is the Point Loma zip.

Here are some comments about the park:

The Caminito Dehesa St development is not easily seen from street. Here's one 'for sale' and it looks pretty nice:

Hope my comments and links are helping with your move. Moving long distances can be a very painful and frustrating experience.

Also, I really think you're going to like living in coastal San Diego. It's hard to beat the natural beauty of our beaches and bays. Especially in the summer months.

The area is very dense with multi-family housing. Surrounding commercial area on Voltaire/Catalina is somewhat shabby. Not unsafe, but expensive for what it is.

Okay guys, tell me about another property we are looking at: just north of Villa de Valle in Solana Beach - between the 5 and 101. The street is Bay Meadows Way. Neighborhood is supposed to be filled with kids (we like that) and also in a multi-family area. Thoughts?

I live right next to that one I love this area. Tons of families and it's pretty diverse for North County.

It's a pretty safe area - some think it's a little sketchy for Del Mar/Solana Beach, but we haven't had too many issues. The logo on my hubcaps disappeared and I suspect it was done by bored teens around here. My antenna was also stolen. It can happen anywhere, I suppose. I come home from work past 10pm most nights and I feel comfortable walking from my garage up three flights of stairs to my apartment.

The property is less than a mile from the ocean and we always have a nice ocean breeze. There a tons of little restaurants and shops and it is a lovely little beach town. Feel free to DM me if you have more questions about Solana Beach!

It's an ok area but is right next to the barrio of Eden Gardens (north of Valley Ave.) which gives it a bad reputation.

It's definitely not the prestigious area of Solana Beach, but that's why I like it!
