My fiance and I are looking for a pet friendly rental in SF for under $1200.00 per month. We have two large dogs but may be able to rehome one of them with a close family member. We also do not have very good credit so our search is VERY difficult so far. Although we have developed bad credit due to some bad choices, rent was always first priority which is why some of our debts had been created. We both have reliable employment history and a great experience with our current property manamement. Does anyone know of something for our situation?

Thank You

GG

2 People.
2 Large Dogs.
Poor Credit.
Under $1200.
In San Francisco.

Not a chance.

Your only hope in that price range would be a studio, but I doubt many landlords would rent a studio to 2 people with 2 dogs.

Thank you for the negativity. As if I don't already have plenty of it with the harsh reality of poor credit. A studio is just fine and if anyone knows of one, please reply with friendly messages.

Yeah honestly all I can say is GOOD LUCK, you will need it.

1) very very few landlords in SF allow pets. Unfortunately the Bay Area and especially San Francisco are not "pet friendly" in any way shape or form if you are a renter, I have never seen a place that was so anti-pets.
2) a 1 bedroom in SF is at least $1400-1500 and at that price will be small and possibly decrepit.
3) you could get a studio for $1100-1200 though.
4) landlords in the Bay Area are picky about everything and bad credit will get you nowhere with a lot of landlords. But a tiny number of them will not check for it, but finding a landlord who wont check credit and is ok with two "large dogs" might be next to impossible. On the other hand landlords are a bit less picky because of the recession.

For SF with these criteria you are going to have to really beat the pavement and go to every apartment viewing you can that looks promising, but it could take you a while.

Honestly I would look in the suburbs like the East Bay where landlords are more relaxed, the prices are lower, and you'd have more room to take your dogs out. A friend of mine has a 2 bedroom for $1250 in Rockridge in Oakland which is a VERY nice neighborhood and near BART which gets you to SF within 20-30 minutes at rush hour.

I don't people are being negative about this....just honest.

You might consider moving outside of the City...like the East Bay...you may have better luck until you work on your credit score.

Landlords in San Francisco are understandably picky and thorough. It's not about the size of the apartment, but having poor credit AND a pet/s. Some landlords won't even allow two people into a one room studio.
