Hello,

Very briefly, laid off my job on Sept 16. of 2010. I have been receiving my standard EDD UI benefits since then and due to run out in March of 2011. Does the existing extension(s) already in place apply to me?. With all the talk right now about Congress not passing any more extensions, I am unclear as to how these extensions work and more importantly which group of unemployed people they apply in terms of initial date of filing. Essentially, if you were laid off say in 2009 do you qualify for all extensions for that period to a maximum of 99 in some cases, but for somebody like me laid off in Sept 2010, do the existing extensions automatically still apply.
The rep at the job search seminar at the EDD office just last month told everybody there, all laid off around Sept 2010, that we were in his words guaranteed at least two more extensions. Anybody know for sure if this is correct?

Any info appreciated at this time,

Your name confused me at first as that's one of our mods LOL

I believe you may be qualified. I'm not sure but I think the no more extensions may mean no more passed 99 weeks. I very well could be wrong so hopefully someone else can clarify.

Any way the way I heard it is 26 weeks then stop. If you got a xetend all ready of 26 more it will stop after that 26 weeks I could be wrong on this though.

Unless there is an extension by congress, all benefits will stop at the end of 26 weeks.

Anyone that is currently on a Fed-ed extension will have their benefits stopped immediately.

Anyone on one of the EUC tier extensions, can continue to collect until their current tier runs out but no new extensions can be filed.

Since it sounds like you haven't moved to any of the extensions yet, you will not be eligible unless congress extends the deadline.

Apparently more extensions will be in a deal on the stupid Bush tax cuts.
