Looking for a house to share in San Francisco, would like to live with fellow vegetarians. Besides craigslist, any other suggestions to find vegetarian people to live with?

Maybe try the bulletin boards at a vegetarian coop like Rainbow Grocery.

We here at work are wondering why a roommate would have to be vegetarian? Is it so y'all can prepare meals together? Are you greedy with your meat (that was Chad's question, not mine)?

Some vegetarians (not all) are repulsed by the look and smell of raw and cooked meat.

Very true. Good to know this info before moving in with someone, as OP would probably relate. (Had a freakout in my house on the part of a girl who failed to divulge her alleged nausea to the smell of meat).

Have you looked into Facebook groups? I know there are a lot of local vegan social groups, which may be able to point you to like minded roommate solutions?

Otherwise, if you are in the area, PETA in Oakland, has events every third Sunday, and 99% of the attendees are vegan, getting to know people in a real life social situation can be beneficial.

Honestly, Craigslist may not be a bad place to look. It's used by 3/4 of San Francisco.

I'm a vegetarian and while my current roommate isn't, I had no problem finding vegetarian-only rooms/shares in the city.

I think he/she just has an unnatural fear of the possibility of sharing space with possibal cannibals!

Thanks, Vallejo2Oregon, I will check facebook groups. Capoirera, I will start checking those community board at Rainbow, maybe even post my own note. Craigslist is good, lots of listings, and few specifically with vegetarians. I can make do with having non-veg roommates, but sharing space with veggie roommates would be preferred. Seeing and smelling meat being cooked, I find to be rather unpleasant.

There are some vegetarian groups in SF. I don't remember what they're called (I think one was something basic like the "San Francisco Vegetarian Society"), but we went to a SF Vegetarian Festival one time that was, I believe, sponsored by one such group. They were pretty organized, and probably have newsletters or yahoogroups or other such ways to network. Don't discount Craigslist, though. There are tons of vegetarians out there, and lots of them are also using Facebook to find roommates. Many of the posts you see may well be from vegetarians themselves who didn't think to specify that fact. Maybe post your own "looking for vegetarian roommates" Craiglist posting and see if you find anything.
