The Bay Area is like an entire world in one region. You can enjoy big, bustling city life and suburban family life, quiet farms, moist redwood forests, dusty horse and cattle ranches, wine countries reminiscent of Tuscany, boating and waterskiing on reservoirs and deltas, museums, rugged foggy beaches and also sunny bustling ones, lots of outdoor activities, and much more. There isn't one single Bay Area lifestyle, because you can find everything here. There are City lifestyles, a Marin lifestyle, a Wine Country lifestyle, a Silicon Valley liefstyle, a coastal lifestyle, rural lifestyles, and suburban lifestyles. So for some people, Bay Area life may be backyard poolside barbecues while for others it's going to the opera and then home to a highrise condo.

^ Your doing Paris injustice with that statement. The Bay Area minus the SF, Oakland and Berkeley area is surburbia central.

But, SF Oakland and Berkeley are in the Bay Area. There as close to geographically centered as it's possible to get. Stating what the Bay Area would be like if those cities weren't there is irrelevant because they are there. That's like saying if the sky weren't blue it would be another color.

Its all true. But the most important fact to know is this: You will either go bankrupt or live paycheck to paycheck to enjoy all of the above

Well, you get what you pay for but you're right, can't really argue with the cost of living being high.

I love this phrase. Its always amazing to me how some bay area natives all of a sudden make a complete 180 degree turn and become shrewd capitalista's when some one talks about the insane cost of living. "You get what you pay for"

My other favorite is from a member on here who likes to point out how others "hate the poor" and "how wrong" that is (in their own words) . Ironically, I believe the phrase the used was "If you can't afford it, you are not working hard enough, and don't deserve to live there".

How ever in reality you do not get what you pay for all the time. Often you get ripped off or fall victim to false advertising. If some one spends 10 dollars on a bag of weed and gets a gram, but some one else spends 10 and gets a seed, who got what they paid for? Both people payed something, both people got something. "You get what you pay for" is often just a silly loaded phrase people use to justify not being able to be thrifty.

Person a:"Dang dude you payed 400 for those Jordans"
Person b:"Yea man, but you know, you get what you pay for"
Person a:"Well my buddies got me these jordans, that fell off the truck, they were only 80"
person b:"Uhhhh, you get what you pay for"
