Gotcha, I've never seen that one. Interesting.

I can see why math still makes me want to run away and cry.

Leave it for the techies. It's obviously a dogfight for those jobs, anyway.

I definitely have. I have certification from Sun Microsystems as a Java Programmer. I thought that would be worth something in addition to my Masters degree in statistics. But theres some kind of catch-22 in effect, where if you don't have the specific experience on the job you won't get hired, and you can't get the specific experience on the job without getting hired. It has been hard enough looking for things that are directly in line with my major and experience.

But, I did have phone interviews with 2 places in the area today. So its not all gloom and doom. But phone calls dont pay bills, offers do, and theres a big difference between getting some interest and getting an offer I guess.

Also, I am a he, not a she, I think someone was confused.

Update: I have received an offer (not written yet) to work near San Jose for a software company. It took a long time and I was really starting to wonder if I would ever be able to even live in CA again. But it is a good match for my background and sounds like a good place to be.

Yes there are fat egos to deal with here, people acting like they invented calculus or UNIX just cause they got a brownie point from someone.
