Our senators - way too far left, especially the obsessive gun-grabber Feinstein.

All of those are nothing compared to our state politicians though. Tax, tax, tax, tax. That's all they know how to do. That and come up with totally nonsensical regulations that waste time and money and cause this to be the worst business climate in the nation.

Of course the voters are to blame. Jerry Brown's tax proposition was a prime example. States like Washington and Nevada and Texas manage to run just fine with NO income tax at all. States like Virginia are among the best run in the country at around 5%. Yet old Jerry comes out, says "9.7% isn't enough, revenue is the problem, think of the children!" Give me a break, we had some of the highest tax in the country BEFORE Jerry's increase, revenue is NOT the problem. Out of control public sector unions and a liberal give-away culture is. But no, the voters believed Jerry and gave him more of their money.

I understand some people are liberal and have different views. I can accept that. I can accept that I live in a liberal state so taxes will be relatively higher and freedom will be relatively lower. But at some point it changes from "liberal" to "flat stupid" and that's where we are now. When will voters stop giving the Government more money? 12% tax? 15%?

I have a buddy from Canada and his tax burden here, because of CA tax, is WORSE than Canada - and they have national health care.
I agree with most of your post. However your buddy from Canada is not telling the truth or is in a special situation. I lived in Canada and have several relatives there. The combined taxes in Canada are considerably higher, especially for the middle class.

of course they are. It is like people who tell us Canada's health care system is so good, well I can tell you a few things people in Canada we have talked to have to say about it. Why do people think so many Canadians come to America for treatment?

Feinstein is not at all "far left." She voted for Shrub's folly in Iraq, after all.

Feinstein is pretty far left but not as extreme as Boxer or Pelosi.

I think she will go down in history as saying that we have to pass this bill so we can see what is in it. Is she really blond and just colors her hair another color?

Actually - that's a misnomer...if you ask them what they think of Obamacare, maybe that's their first reaction. But when you get into specifics - such as not being denied health insurance due to preexisting conditions, children can be on their parents' plan until age 26, expansion of Medicare - then more favor that than oppose it.

Look, even the most idelogically opposed Republican governors are starting to come around - look at Rick Scott of Florida.

That's a myth. Extremely few Canadians go the US for health treatment.

Yes, I agree. That's complete nonsense. Amazing what people rehash from some conservative radio talk shows.

Here are additional facts as well since we seem to have folks posting nonsense...

In addition, I've actually lived in a country with a "socialized medicine" system. Now I certainly wouldn't say it's perfect, but I had ultrasounds, a MRI, had an emergency room visit/with ambulance, and various other doctor visits for myself and my kids and can only speak fairly highly of it. There are of course pros and cons and any Canadian would tell you the same but it's certainly better than losing your life savings, your house, or having it send you into bankruptcy.

As for Nancy Pelosi...I totally respect her. I won't bother going into more details since it tends to bring a certain demographic of folks from outside of the Bay Area and California.

As for anyone that seems to think it remotely funny to make ignorant wisecracks about "botox" or the color of her hair in response to how she does her job...well, that's pretty despicable and misogynistic-- typical of people that aren't particularly educated (which is a large part of constituency she represents)
