It's ghetto. If you give me the general location in Hayward I can give you more detail as I was born and raised there and certain areas are better than others. However, I would highly encourage your friend to find another area.

There are many (often times heated) discussions about Hayward and San Leandro on this forum. Do a search and you'll get a lot of reading material.

im actually not to sure about the exact area, i just know my friend will be in hayward for sure....but how much of hayward is ghetto? or has problem areas....? (20% of it is ghetto, 30%???)

ive been to the tenderloin once and that was pretty scary honestly....crack heads everywhere and hommies shootin dice on the corner yelling and screaming while drinkin 40s....is hayward anywhere near that type of stuff? (as in what goes on around there)?

Compared to the Tenderloin, Hayward is like Beverly Hills...Ok, that's a bit of a stretch, but it's definitely not that bad.

The only decent area of Hayward is in the hills. The rest of it is a ghetto. I moved to Hayward in 1970. It was decent then. Now? As the other person said: it's the armpit of the bay area. Many places are as bad as the tenderloin.
