I could be wrong, but it seems Bay Area companies are more prone to offer profit-sharing and other major incentives to keep their workers satisfied, compared to the more traditional parts of the country where CEOs make millions while fighting against every cent of a raise for the company employees.

The Bay Area has a pretty good job market and well educated workers. Our employment rates are dropping. All make for happy workers.

I like how the company that did this is based in Sausalito lol.

If it's going to be a rat race at least we're happy, well compensated rats I guess...

I personally do not have a gym or a free masseur at work. I have to question who they called for this survey. I kind of doubt they were calling the guy at Taco Bell.

If you don't work in tech you're lucky to have gotten a single raise since 2008, and meanwhile the techies are making your rent go through the roof. Happy happy joy joy!

Ah, who cares? They got money, but they're still geeks. And our rent hasn't gone up since '01.

Seems about right to me! So many companies here provide awesome perks (i.e. shuttles, gyms, great food, high pay, etc.).

Let me change my comment to "meanwhile the techies and old farts with rent control are making your rent go through the roof."

Yeah it's awesome for the 95% of Bay Area workers who get nothing like that.

But let's drown that out with the happy tap-tap-tapping of the Twitter feeds of techies celebrating getting free smoothies in exchange for working 14 hour days. Maybe they're fortunate enough to work at companies that won't lay them off immediately after turning in a major project. Maybe the smoothies make up for that.
