Am I crazy to think of day-tripping that weekend? We have a relative visiting who hasn't been to SF much and we love it so it's on the list of potential things to do.

Thanks.

actually i enjoy San Francisco during the holidays. There is alot less traffic and parking is much easier because people tend to leave San Francisco during thanksgiving, except for Black Friday.

You will need to check ahead of time to see what's open/closed on Thansgiving day but overall i think most things are going to be available..

I have not been here for Thanksgiving. I have heard that the City empties extensively for Thanksgiving. Friends have described it as the San Francisco rapture. I would think it would be a nice time to be here.

Sounds awesome! Thanks. Maybe we'll avoid Friday in case people are flocking in for shopping.

It was about 20 years ago but I spent T-day in San Francisco once, and by myself. It was great. Weather was usually nice, if a little too cool at times, and the city ran as usual. I remember doing the Alcatraz tour on that trip. And after T-day it was nice to see the early kick-off of the festive Christmas madness in some of the stores.

Many of the young transplants should be out of town eating their turkey dinners with their parents in the NYC/BOS/DC/CHI burbs.

Will be a great time to walk into restos with no reservation.
