I wish Google just up and moved to another city to teach San Francisco a lesson. The God-like sydrome local officials have is out of control.

The Peninsula is a bigger problem than SF, which for all its faults is adding thousands of units per year in post-recession construction.

Can't login into Gmail sometimes...otherwise, slow login..."load plain html" message..."account temporary unavailable" sometimes...idiotic UI/interface...constant UI changes...NO quality assurance/testing.
Hint: google, stop hiring idiots that want to live in SF and commute to SV. Not only "barge and bus traffic" problem will be solved, but "your services are going doing the toilet due to unprofessional, idiotic mess" as well, perhaps.

God-like syndrome? Perhaps it exists on the other side?
How about hitting Google with anti-trust, anti-discrimination laws and privacy violations suits?
And making them actually pay taxes...
Google is just a corporation that people of the US (including people of SF Bay Area) allow to exist.

If you've ever owned a business you would know what I'm talking about and it doesn't matter if it's a tiny business with only 2 employees.

Officials act like you need to worship them because they have the "power" and anytime they feel like you don't, they will try to flex their muscle at you.

It's ridiculous.

Umm . . . it is the State of CA, not SF that is ordering Google's barge to move. And Google didn't bother seeking authorization to build and moor its barge at Treasure Island--which is a big no-no for this type of project, you know? They also will be moving to a permitted location in the SF Bay, so I don't think this means what you think it means.

The ridiculousness is companies openly flouting the law in hopes that no one will notice. You need proper licensing to build and moor a structure at Treasure Island's shoreline, which should really be no surprise. What's surprising is that Google didn't bother getting proper authorization before it acted.

Google could solve a lot of problems by just committing to 500,00 square feet in a new building in downtown Oakland. There are entitled office buildings waiting on tenants to start construction. Quit with the buses and ferries and tell your employees to ride bart. Half the price of similar office space in SF.
