Something which I've long believed....it's only the transplants and upwardly mobile (white) demographic of San Francisco who bristle at "Frisco". The rest acknowledge or even embrace the term.

Thanks for posting this. I love it when transplants feel they know better than other transplants how to call a city.

The city is called Frisco by some residents. I was under the impression that "Frisco" was more of an Hip Hop/street slang used to refer to the city.

A guy in this documentary on Hunters Point says Frisco in this video when referring to the city at 0:56.

The Hip Hop slang version is "the Sco", Frisco predates Hip Hop.

And yeah there's definitely a class division with San Francisco's nicknames.

Let us not forget "Sucka Free." I believe that originated around Nob Hill.

Saying "Frisco" is not an issue of whether one is a transplant or not; it's simply an issue of sounding like a tool.

You should go tell that to some of the more "working class" people that use the term lol.

I think the real "tools" are the one's that try to correct people that use the term.
