San Francisco sees 4th home invasion in 4 days - SFGate

This is the reason why I support gun ownership. Police can only help you after the fact, thankfully, all the victims lived in these cases. Until they make robberies a guaranteed life sentence, I will support the second amendment for the rest of my life. This is so disgusting.

This property is protected by Smith and Wesson (and ... FNH).

Actually, it's not. Nationally, crime has been ticking downwards for the last several years. Is this scary? Sure. But it's an isolated incident.

Not that it makes this stuff any less scary, even the article says as much:
Quote:
Last year, 69 home invasion robberies were reported in San Francisco, a decrease from the 78 reported in 2013, according to police data.
And I'm not so sure this is the best advertisement for gun ownership as one of the victims actually owned a gun (that was taken from them...):
Quote:
The suspects, described as being in their late teens or early 20s, ordered the victims to lie face down while they ransacked the home, then made off with a firearm and two mobile phones, police said. No one was injured.

The article was too PC. It didn't state the ethnicity of the people doing the crimes. It would be helpful to the public to get a description.

In one case, the victim was attacked while in bed...fast asleep. Not sure how a gun would have made any impact at all.

In the other case, five men held up a couple --one wielding a gun and robbed the couple--of yes, their gun and other belongings.

Second case, homeowner merely answered his doorbell. Not sure that people should just start carrying guns with them every time someone knocks on your door.

Third case, same sort of deal--someone rang the doorbell, only perpetrator was wielding a knife. (Not much time to go and grab your gun which is upstairs/locked away safely).

How in the world do you think guns would been able to prevent any of these robberies? The couple actually HAD a gun stolen!

Guns in all of these instances would not have prevented any of these robberies from happening.

All that trouble, just for a gun and a couple of phones? Why are people stealing phones these days, anyway? Are they expensive? Do they have a high resale value? What's the big deal with phones?? And this is what happens when people have guns in the home. The guns can either get stolen and used by criminals in their next home invasion, or they can be used against the homeowner. Stupid to keep guns in the home.

There's an interesting pattern to some of the incidents. The robbers ring the doorbell. I never answer the doorbell unless I'm expecting someone. Especially at 7:30 a.m., like one older couple did. That's a weird time to respond to a doorbell--obviously not a legit situation, if someone's ringing your doorbell that early in the morning.

Yeah, the 2nd Amendment is great for the criminals, isn't it? Free guns, if you can break into someone's house.
