Has anyone here lived there? How do you like it? Is it safe overall? Is Dimond Canyon Trail good for jogging? It seemed like a nice part of Oakland, but very quiet with and not well suited if you are using public transportation. However, I will have a car and parking spot so transportation is not a deal breaker. There was a little section of Park Blvd that had some shops/restaurants, but that's it. This would be for a single male in his 30s. The specific location is around Park Blvd and Hollywood Ave. Any advice from Oakland locals would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Its safe. The restaurants are pretty good. Transit options are not great. Don't know about the jogging. But it is a great quiet neighborhood if transit isn't important to you. It is also not that far from the lake for a walk/jog.

If you want more nightlife, Glenview is sleepy. If you want more restaurants, that is another reason to leave the neighborhood. But you are just around the corner from the Lakeshore/Grand Lake areas if you want stuff to do. You could also move closer to Lakeshore to save a little money and for a bit more action. Harder to get parking spaces though.

Glenview is your prototypical 'above MacArthur' neighborhood. It is quiet, clean, mellow, hilly, and generally has higher home values than the immediate neighborhoods 'below MacArthur' (though there is now nowhere in Oakland where the home values can be considered truly low). This neighborhood is cool too because it's about midway between the Lakeshore and Dimond districts, providing sufficient options for grocery, restaurants, and coffee spots, etc.

And if displacing folks is something you're conscious of, you won't have to worry about feeling like people are being priced out at your expense in this neighborhood. This neighborhood has always been fairly affluent and more White than most traditional Oakland neighborhoods. I think most Oaklanders would say you can't lose with this neighborhood.

Safe and quiet. Parking on the side streets near the commercial area can be troublesome. Bellanico is one of my favorite restaurants. Owned by the same folks as Aperto in SF but better food. Park Blvd is a major thoroughfare for AC Transit if you want to go car less.
