All of the above, plus “Christmas in San Francisco” by Vic Damone and “California Dreaming” by The Mamas and The Papas. (I know the song is about California, but it reminds me of San Francisco.)

The hippie anthem ("flowers in your hair..."), and if I think about it, "I left my heart in..." comes to mind.

I agree, that for some reason, the Mamas & the Papas make me think of SF, even though they were a SoCal phenom, weren't they? But I guess the biggest hippie scene was in SF, and they were def. a 60's hippie-scene phenom. Too bad they blew up; those harmonies were awesome!

Mamas and The Papas originated in Los Angeles, you’re correct.

Yep. That's the one. Whenever I hear that song it brings me back to 1978-79, sitting in my Journalism class at Tamalpais High in Mill Valley. The windows were usually opened and inevitably there would be a group of kids hanging outside before class playing Journey's Lights on their boombox. I thought of San Francisco then, and still think about it now.
