Kensington, Albany, Hercules, Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga, Walnut Creek are my suggestions to you. I wouldn't recommend El Sobrante, Pinole, or Richmond because of the schools and environment.

Also, wouldn't recommend Martinez as it is too close to the refineries.

I agree..I've lived in San Pablo for the last year. Not the best area to live. Not much going on there either. Im immune to it since I grew up in the East Bay for a while. Bottom line though, If I had kids I wouldn't raise them in San Pablo. There's better places like the one's bay area girl mentioned.

valkyrieh,

I concur on all that you have said...Albany Schools--Kensington, Madera---
El Cerrito and Richmond Hills all are good...

If he wants to go the other direction. Hercules...I am not sure on the schools there though...

I wouldn't suggest Martinez....Orinda if you want the commute...

Albany is great---small district

San Pablo is a fine place to raise kids and is pretty cheap. Maybe I'm missing something, because i see nothing wrong with San Pablo.

E14,

The schools are the problem in San Pablo....there are nice and good families/people in many
areas...its the schooling and crime that is the problem...

I have a cousin who lives in San Pablo..if she had more money she would have bought somewhere else..

Her daughter went to Private School--she is now at Berkeley High.....
