I have been searching a bit based on everyone's recommendations. I've looked at Belmont which looks good so we'll likely tour it while we're visiting in a few weeks.

I was also taken by Foster City. Is that a horrendous commute to Menlo Park for my husband? I like the idea of being near water and, taking the advice of several posters, it seems to be in the cooler area of the peninsula.

Does anyone have experience with some of the elementary schools in Belmont and Foster City?

Thanks again!

Foster City to Menlo Park isn't a horrible drive, except maybe coming back late in the afternoon after 5 pm. I assume the job would be close to the Bayfront Expressway, so being close to 101 would be a plus.

Love Foster City! Right on the water. Oracle, Pacific Athletic Club, Kingfish! There's a Costco right on the island, Chevy's for happy hour - on the water - love it! Folks pay more for the address than Redwood Shores or San Mateo, which is right next door.
The commute is 101 or the train. I'm a big fan of not driving during commute so if I have a early meeting I'll jump on light rail. It's clean and free wi-fi so I can get stuff done.

The Costco is a huge plus!

I did see a few houses in San Mateo - not sure if I came across Redwood Shores so now I'll check that out. San Mateo seemed cheaper for houses - is it a decent area?

I'll also check out the train schedule and we'll see if that's doable - I'd frankly love to unload a car before we move there but it does seem like the general area requires a lot of driving so perhaps two cars are still needed.

Thanks again!

Wi-fi on Caltrain? No there isn't!
