I am shifting to Bay area with my family and 2 kids and looking for an accommodation in a good school district and within reasonable rent ($2500). As per the advise I gathered in this forum, I am inclined towards Cupertino, Los Gatos and Fremont (mission) area. I have found a few apartments around

- Warm Springs Fremont, Ca 94539
- Arvington, Fremont CA 94538 (near Blacow)
- Belwood Gateway, Los Gatos (near BelGatos park)

Can someone give me some perspective on these areas? Are these safe and good neighborhood with opportunity for activities for kids?

Warm Springs is a good area of Fremont, but not all schools are the same. Some parts of Warm Springs get Mission San Jose schools and some don't.

Irvington is a somewhat less desireable part of Fremont, but I wouldn't consider it a bad place to live. It's just not as nice as other parts of town. Most of the schools are decent, but just not at the same level as Mission SJ schools.

I don't have much specific knowledge about the Los Gatos area you're looking at, other than there really isn't any bad part of Los Gatos. This particular area is near the Almaden Valley area of San Jose which is also a good area for families and has good schools. Almaden Valley doesn't have many apartments though.

Maybe if you give some more specifics, we can give you some more detailed answers.

Hi there,

I am moving from Brazil to US (with wife and 3 kids: 7, 12, 13 y.o), to work in San Jose/CA 95037 and I am looking for an affordable rental in a good school district, close to VTA transport.

Would really appreciate some good directions... I've been thinking about Morgan Hill... is that good?

You should probably start your own thread if you want more responses and people need more details about what you're looking for in a neighborhood and what your budget is etc.

95037 is Morgan Hill's ZIP code. If that's what you mean, there's only a handful of apartment buildings in the city - one at Monterey and Tennant, and the other next to the Caltrain station IIRC.
