Somebody please call the WHAMbulance!!!! It's like we always get these random ass people who purportedly left for some place "nicer and better", yet always come back here to toot their own horns and talk **** about SJ.

News flash: Let it go....let it goo.....let it go....

2nd News Flash: If you left SJ for "nicer and better", then it better be some place that is truly better: Singapore, Paris, you know what I mean? But Thailand? HAHHAHAHAHAHAH

I assume Thailand?
A lot of people are doing just that. I'd consider it if I ever lost my job. But otherwise, I don't like the tropics.

Actually, a lot of people are figuring out that the quality of life in the United States has eroded, even for those who are relatively well off. That's doubly true for the high cost metro areas like the Bay Area. "Complicated grind" was a good description, IMO.

Want to stay closer to home?

- Panama

- Ecuador

- Costa Rica

All great places to retire and live (safely, with good health care that doesn't cost a fortune) all on SocSec .

It's got downtown, santana row, and willow glen. But on a neighborhood level it is lacking bad in things to do.

Yeah, if you want bad on a neighborhood level, you should go to another city.

Oh look...the threads are rising from the dead this Halloween!

As for the discussion...people don't sh*t where they eat. Live/work in San Jose....go take a sh*t in San Francisco....totally cool to do it anywhere there.

I'm seeing more and more cool stuff all the time. Its just got a different vibe because a lot of the city still looks likes suburbia yet.

San Jose was actually vibrant in the 1950's. I know. I was there. There are pictures. It was bustling and fun.

But there was no planning, hence random sprawl.

What killed the downtown was the building of Valley Fair - people abandoned Harts, Hales, Penny's, et al and headed off to Valley Fair, leaving San Jose downtown to shrivel up.

Destroying most of the beautiful architecture did not help either.

Poor planning - then and from then on.

And now a bunch of shallow, boring people.
