This is very sad and scary! Thousands of acres burned already. Seems like most people discovered the need to evacuate on their own. There were no major sirens, no phone tree, nothing to alert these people up in the mountains.

My old piano teacher lives on Uvas Road in Morgan Hill. I hope the fire is contained before it gets out that way..

Sorry to read about this. Hopefully containment occurs soon and this isn't an indicator of another brutal summer for fires in CA.

I am saddened and keep checking the news. I lived for many years in those mountains and I have to say that we never had anything like a phone tree set up. If you mean reverse dial up, I heard a report that that was done. For what neighborhood or at what point, I am not certain.

I'd be surprised if Santa Cruz and/or Santa Clara Counties don't have a reverse 911 system.
Our little county does as of the 1st of this year.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I left in 2001, however, while living there for 23 years prior, I don't know of it's existance.

Hubby and I were just discussing this as we just moved to NJ from Morgan Hill in Feb.
We always said one day that a Santa Cruz fire would be mighty scary.

I hope everyone is as ok as they can be.
