You're correct loborick. There's good 4G service in the Santa Fe and Albuquerque area. I sometimes find myself in territory to the east of Santa Fe and up north, and that's where only 3G is currently available . I'll probably still spring for the '5'.
I have Verizon on my iPhone. I get coverage everywhere except on places up Hyde Park Road. On Aspen Vista last night, I didn't get coverage until I got to the ski lift.
I have one of each, Verizon and AT&T; and AT&T I use for texting and I don't have a text plan on my Verizon one. I'm only as "advanced" as a Blackberry so I can't really answer this question; both are on Pre-Paid because as a struggling substitute teacher I can't qualify for a decent "contract" rate. The last time I tried for a "contract" phone it was with T-Mobile and they offered me a "free" phone with service. Then they checked my credit and charged me $75 for the phone. So I'm on Pre-Paid no credit check from this point on......at least for the next 10 years on Income Based Repayment on my Student Loans until those go away (that's the Income Based Repayment plan) if I still make too little money to start repaying them.
We had AT&T when we moved up here, but the service was awful in places so we switched to Verizon and haven't had a problem in two years. AT&T didn't work out on Old Las Vegas Highway (in places) and there were buildings in downtown that had no service too (like the federal court building). No issues like that with Verizon.
AT&T has improved a lot recently. Also, plan to do a lot of traveling overseas as well, and the Verizon phones are no good at that. I think I will stick to AT&T.
Hmmm...is that something you've heard or is that common knowledge about Verizon? I hadn't thought about that. Then again, I don't do too much overseas traveling, but when I do, it is nice to bring my phone along and just switch on "World Connect" or whatever it is/was with AT&T.
Depends where you are in Santa Fe. We are in Tesuque and coverage is spotty at best with Sprint. Most of the time we ave no coverage unless we walk around outside. Works great in the city, though.
Live on the east side of Mansion Ridge, use Verizon and at home it's just terrible!
We've had to revert to using a land line!
Works great elsewhere in and around town.
So, I guess my conclusion is that there are locations that don't get good coverage, which isn't that strange given the geographical conditions.
