Hi let me thank anyone who reponds to my post in advance So we are looking to relocate to Sarasota. Anyone know how the market is for Physical and Occupational Therapists? I am a certified hand specialist and lymphedema specialist. I am hoping to work in an outpatient setting. Are there many outpatient therapy clinics? Thanks again!

Here's one in Port Charlotte:
Florida Hand Center | Hand Specialists - Experts in Treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome & Trigger Finger

and another in Sarasota:
Orthopaedic Center of Southwest Florida - Christopher Sforzo, M.D. - Hand, arm, wrist, shoulder, elbow surgeon in Sarasota and Bradenton, FL

Here's a lady that does lymphdema in the area: Legacy Physical Therapy - Jane Fulton, PT, MHSc, MTC &amp Lymphedema Specialist I'd try to give her a call and pick her brain. If she already has a job then I'm guessing you're not much of a threat to her. She may have some connections or be able to hook you up in some way. She might even be able to give an idea of what to expect salary wise.

As I'm sure you're aware, the job market is quite bleak right now. That being said, I would think being in the medical profession you'd have better luck.

Good luck with your search.

Harbor Hopper's wife is a PT in Port Charlotte. AND I know wherever she works is looking for people right now. I'll email him and tell him to check this thread out.

Licensed PT and OT's (as well as assistants) are always in demand. My wife is constantly being recruited by headhunters from around the state (and elsewhere). I don't however know about the demand for your specialty, but wouldn't think you would have any trouble finding a decent paying position. I'll ask my wife tonight to share her thoughts.

Default Thanks so much

Thanks for the replies, we live in Maryland and I have never had a problem finding a job. I am just not sure about the job market in Sarasota, so it is hopeful to hear that there might be positions available. If anyone has any other recommendations I am all ears. I love what I do and hope that I continue to work in the same capacity

Hi, this is harbor hopper's wife. That's some awesome credential's that you have! I worked in a lymphedema clinic myself as a new grad and enjoyed the wrapping and patient education. Are you an OT or PT? I am currently working in-patient after being in OP up north for 8 years. So unfortunately, I don't have a good knowledge of the hand docs and clinics in the area. There do seem to be a lot of physician owned practices around here. So my suggestion would be to google hand surgeons in the Sarasota/Bradenton area to see if they have hand clinics in their practices. If not, they may be able to tell you what clinics they work with. You may have to hook up with a headhunter initially to break into the market. From there, you'll be able to network and I'm sure someone will steal you to join there practice! With reimbursement being sort of so-so for lymphedema treatment these days, it might be more difficult to find employment doing that exclusively in an OP setting. Home Care agencies may do more of that. I found indeed.com to be helpful. There were national postings along with local classified postings. Good luck!

Thanks for your response! I will check out the hand surgeons and your leads. I am not opposed to PRN work initially if I have to. You said you moved from the north? I am guessing you love it there. Right now I am looking at several inches of snow which fell last night. Not a fan, and wouldn't miss it!

Yes, we've been here going on two years now and absolutely LOVE it! Our family and friends up north are stuck in the winter doldroms . Not here! It's a little chilly here at times during the winter, but definitely NOT complaining!! I think we've only had the heat on 4 nights so far
