the tampa gun show is this weekend august 6 and 7.

Tampa Gun Show - Events

this is one of the big ones. nice family day out. lots of vendors selling more than just guns.

with the economy the way it is going and another recession looming and not much hope and change on the horizon maybe you might consider a little personal protection.

pick up a nice target pistol and take the family to the range and say "yes we can" hit the bullseye.

and if you cant hit the target you can always say its the other guys fault.

I can't go this weekend, but sometime I'd like to go with ya. I've been to a few gun shows up in WYN when I was younger. I'm not looking to buy a gun, but I love to look at them, and see all the things that are going on. It is fun, even if you don't want to buy a gun.

Have you done any hunting down here? I imagine that a lot of the ranches down here wouldn't mind someone hunting on their property to help rid them of some of the problem animals like pigs and other varmints like fruit rats.

Jersey, have you been to this show before? Just wondering? Hey, where is there a range in the NP, PC, PG, or Sarasota area?

the tampa show is probably the biggest. there are also ones in ft myers and palmetto. look around on the link i put in the original post and the schedule is there.

there are a lot of ranges. i use the one at knights trail Recreation Centers , the guys that run it are good guys. they dont put up with any BS. it is all safety. for me its easy to get to. i have been told that there are others that are less money to get in, although knights trail is not that expensive. there are also others with more relaxed rules also.

theres always other shows. a few of us from the CD family went up to the palmetto show a couple weeks ago and then hit a barbeque place on the way back. if you are around for the ft myers show lets do it.

i lost most of my guns in a boating accident, (wink wink), but i may be able to have one of two around that we could go out to the range with. maybe this would be a good CD get together or meet up.

Let me know when it is. I like to target practice with my .22, but haven't found a place down here to shoot it.

This fall is going to be hit and miss since I go watch a lot of football games.

knights trail has 15, 25, 50 and 100 yard ranges. 15 and 25 is perfect for a .22. they dont sell ammo at the range but that caliber is easy to get at walmart. they do sell for a buck the cardboard to put in the target stand. they sell targets but alot of guys google free pistol targets and print their own or bring cheap paper plates. 12 bucks gets you in there all day. what i like is that they keep a very close eye on other shooters. there is no rapid fire, which my boys have been reminded of. some of the older shooters forget that the gun be pointed down range at all times. any horseplay and the person is asked to leave and with the sheriffs range right next door they arent there to long.

there is another member that was on here that also likes to go to the shows and range. his CD forum membership was terminated because someone else did not share his views.

this link is to discount tickets to the show. it says palmetto but if you open the page there is a ticket in the top left that has an expire date of october. it will work for the tampa show.

Palmetto Gun Show - Suncoast Gun Shows

they have concealed carry classes at the show if you are interested. while that would get you enought to apply for a ccw i would strongly reccomend additonal training. there are usually booths set up that provide info on that.
