what is up with people pushing dogs around in baby carriages? i never observed this until moving down here. i have seen it in sarasota and now today in venice. cant figure it out. in case they have not realized it, dogs have 4 legs that were meant for walking, running and jumping. me thinks some people have some screws loose.

Well, there actually are a lot of reasons that people push their dog in a doggie stroller. Some elderly people have a hard time walking and they take their dog in a stroller, then stop and take it out to go to the bathroom. The stroller gives them something to hold on to while walking. Another reason to push a dog in a stroller is because the dog is old, injured, or sick and has a hard time walking. Dogs enjoy the fresh air and being outside. This gives them a way to enjoy it. A lot of people with small dogs take their dog everywhere and they walk them in a stroller so that the dog doesn't get too tired. I have seen young people jogging with their dog in a stroller. To each his own.

I always assumed it's because it is hot down here, and some of those little bitty dogs have to walk fast to keep up with their owners and get tired; hence the baby carriages. I'm not sure that's it but I think that is part of it.

I think people are becoming more considerate of dogs with problems.
One of my neighbours dogs is quite old and they like to get it out and it isn't able to walk far so the use a dog stroller.

Wish more people would consider their Dogs ailments.

i guess if the dogs or people were old i could understand but all those that i have seen, the dogs and the people are far from old and frail. i think the cuckoo nest syndrome is probably the best analysis.

i am thinking of picking up a double wide for my pit.

I grew up on a farm, and we weren't even allowed to have dogs in the house, much less in a baby carriage. Hey, these days, dogs are replacing babies as the status item du jour. And according to my vet bills, they're probably getting just as expensive...
