ya know, the summer down here can be brutal, but if you spent any time at all in summer in Long Island Ny, or Maine, or Iowa, or arkansas or phoenix or the deserts of the southwest, you'd find just about as hot .
South Florida is worse than here, but so are a lot pf places.

Enjoy it

I'm with Gypsy, I'm also a native Floridian and wouldn't live anywhere else. I can kayak year round, go to the beach and do just about anything. Just have to worry about a few thunderstorms in the summertime. A few years ago I saw snow for the first time. I'm definitely a FL gal and didn't enjoy it too much.

If you enjoy cold weather and don't like the heat I wouldn't advise moving here. Otherwise...it's paradise, IMO.

We've got one (1) foot out of the door here, but so far, we've been lucky this winter. It rained all day (drizzle, and an occasional shower) and was in the mid 40s. More of the same tomorrow, but IT SURE BEATS SNOW!!

I KNOW when winter, REAL WINTER, with snow, ice and single-digit temperatures, is going to hit here; when I'm loading several tons of steel into a second (2nd) shipping container sometime in March 2012. Thankfully, I already loaded one (1) such container while the weather was still nice...

I lived twenty (20) years in southern Louisiana, and on any given day, it was only 2-3 degrees warmer in SWF. I don't think we'll have any problem getting acclimated; in fact, we're looking forward to it!

Im a canadian and just returned from a 1 week trip to Sarasota and WPB areas....I could not believe myself, when I realized it was Xmas day and I was in Siesta Key! This was the first time in almost 16 years that I had Xmas above 20 degrees (celsius). Cant beat that!
Im struggling now to make a decision whether or not move to Florida in the near future. We have stable lives, jobs, friends, etc in Canada... but are just tired of the cold and cold and cold year after year.

And THIS is why I can't wait to get there! If all goes according to plan, I should be in Sarasota in 2-3 months. I'm so over this whole winter nonsense. I never should have left the south!

Tony Randall once said, "I *AM* n.y.!" Thats how I feel about Fl.
I love everything about it, the good, the bad, & the ugly, lol. Ive lived all over, but Fl. is the only place Ive ever felt homesick for.

That is a GREAT saying! I feel like that as well - I AM Florida! I love everything about it, weather, architecture, beaches, fauna, flora, sunshine, cuisine, seafood - you name it!
