Taking this from here:
Anyplace in Florida like Hawaii?
Granted, nothing in Florida is anything like Hawaii. But, it seems that from this thread, more people placed Sarasota as being the closest, if one could be close to it.
I take it more for just having a pleasant environment, etc. Nowhere in Fl has the hills and natural environment of HI...but I guess Sarasota gets it for other factors.

Confused here - when you say Sarasota wins - do you mean it wins as a place you have chosen to move to based on the thread you linked?
Obviously no place in Florida is going to be anything like Hawaii. But we do have exceptionally beautiful beaches and a lot of natural beauty here, along with the other assets like a great walkable downtown and all of the arts and cultural amenities. Definitely one of the nicest places in Florida (or anywhere) to live.

It 'wins' in as for people trying to find the place in Florida to be the most like Hawaii (even though Florida/Sarasota is NOTHING like Hawaii)...it seems that Sarasota seems to be mentioned as the most desireable of Florida, despite being nothing like Hawaii.
