HI Forum,

I am talking with a company in Venice about a possible job and relocating. We have been wanting to move South from New England for a while. My family consists of my wife, me (we are in our forties), and our 3 year old boy. WE will probably rent first, but eventually want to buy. We want a nice neighborhood for families, especially for children to play safely in. My wife and I like to play lots of tennis. We would like to have access to a community pool, not sure if we want our own private pool. We will probably send our son to private school, so proximity to a good private school (parochial) is important. Our budget is probably between $200-$300K. Eventually my mother-in-law will probably move down, just to be with her daughter and grandson. She is 70. If she doesn't live with us, she will probably get a condo. However, probably the best situation would be if we could find a house with a mother-in-law apartment.

Anyhow, my question, can you all recommend some neighborhoods to check out? Anything we should watch out for? Thanks

Many of the homes in communities will not have a mother-in-law suite. They may have a second master suite with bed and bath but not a kitchen. How much are you willing to pay for homeowner association fees? Here are some communities in Venice that have a pool and tennis.

Grand Palm, Island Walk at West Villages, Lakes of Jacaranda, Pelican Pointe Golf & Country Club, Sawgrass, Stoneybrook at Venice, Venetian Golf and River Club, Venetian Golf & Country Club, Waterford.

You can search for homes in the MLS at http://myfloridahomesmls.com/.
