So, I found a stray black kitten and rescued it from the great outdoors of Myakka, teeny thing, all alone. I have three adult cats and a large hound dog and I am a responsible pet owner but do not want another cat..

Due to Napiers Animal Sanctuary being raided ( don't get me started)...ALL the local shelters are FULL with their 300+ animals. I will not call Animal services since they Euthanize. ( Don't want one to be euthanized to make room for the kitten). I will be leaving him by our vets office tomorrow morning...

Unless??? Anyone here want a 12 week old black male kitty?? I'm desperate, really really do not want to leave him at my vets door!!

Don't leave him at the vets door, how do you know something won't happen to him before the vet gets there?
A veterinarian office is not an animal shelter. Put an ad on Craigslist. Put up flyers all around. Be responsible.

You can also put a notice up on the bulletin board inside the entrance at Petsmart in Bradenton. There is another group in Bradenton that finds homes for cats and dogs, will have to look it up and get back to you. But please don't just abandon the little guy. If nothing else pans out, take him to the Bradenton Humane Society on 14th St.

Oobie have you tried Nate's?

Nate's Honor Animal Rescue

Anyway, sad to say this, but I was told that black cats are very difficult to adopt out (this was from an animal rescue in Pasco County where I used to live. I hope that if you can't find a solution you will just keep him. Bless you for rescuing him. I have rescued many in my life even when I already had too many.

You can also try:

Bishop Animal Shelter in Bradenton 792-2863

Gulf Shore Animal League 747-2284

Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch 361-1071

Humane Society of Sarasota 955-4131

If I didn't already have my house limit of rescue cats, I would love to take that little guy for you. Yes, my hubby and I are softies when it comes to a wet nose surrounded by fur and whiskers.

Congrats on caring enough to rescue that kitty. Trap-Neuter-Return is a program promoted by ASPCA. You can find out more about T-N-R at Trap-neuter-return - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I have 3 black feral cats that I have rescued and had them fixed via our Humane Society program. I rescue lost/abandoned/feral cats in my area. They didn't ask to be in their situation, and they are living creatures. My better half says I attract an lost animal. Almost had a baby seal show up here one year - she blames my "Eat at Doug's" sign on the roof LOL

Thanks, I went nuts trying to find a home for him. All is well now though, and if anyone is interested he was taken in by a very kind vet : )

Thank you for not leaving the kitten at the door, Oobie.
