I am thinking that I am going to need to have a regular (vs walk in clinic) doctor that I can go to if I have any other issues with this bronchial allergy/asthma situation I am dealing with. I plan on talking to my TX GP this next week because I am still having "issues" with something that started in early March...

I just wondered if anyone here used an allergist or a pulmonologist--my problems are more coughing/wheezing at times than having big sneezing attacks or eye problems like some allergies can cause.
I am on Medicare but my secondary coverage is through my teacher's retirement system with RX coverage (which is better than many Medicare D plans I think).

We are in Nokomis area...but since we are retired a good doctor is preferred over a close one.

I am part of an asthma study in Sarasota - Windom Allergy. I am a disabled Veteran and get my care in Tampa at the VA Spinal Cord Injury center which is awesome. But I needed someone more local for asthma care and decided to check out the research study potential (having done them in the past). The study gives me free care and medicine and compensation ($250 or something like that).

I like Dr. Windom as an allergist / asthma doc. Nice guy and right to the point.

I know that they wouldn't take my Tricare but am unsure about Medicare ... but a study might be a reasonable option for you too.

Good luck!

Yes, I,m. An allergist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of asthma and other allergic diseases. The allergist is specially trained to identify the factors that trigger asthma or allergies. Allergists help people treat or prevent their allergy problems. After earning a medical degree, the allergist completes a three-year residency-training program in either internal medicine or pediatrics.
