As others have mentioned, Points of Rocks, hands down it the best place for snorkeling around here. Used to go out there when I was a teenager and snorkel with friends. I haven't been out there for a while though.

The rock jetty by Lido Public Swim beach is also a decent snorkeling spot (and can be accessed a little more easily as there is a larger parking lot and is not tide dependent). We were at both places over the last two days and the water was too rough and there was very little visibility.

As BBronston has mentioned, point of rocks is really the only good shallow water snorkeling around, however, the water clarity isn't good right not (never is this time of year), so don't expect crystal clear water. We've been noticing TONS of sand dollars & dimes over the past two months. Not sure about up there, but keep an eye (or a foot) out for those! You can feel them when you step on them. Have fun!
Please remember that it is illegal to harvest (kill) live shells, including sand dollars. Look and let live!

Of course. Sorry I forgot to mention this (the group we hang out with never needs to be reminded of this, so I often forget to mention it to others)

First time we took our 10 year old daughter snorkeling at Point of Rocks, she freaked out. The rocks are a reddish color and she though they were covered in blood. It's been 4 years and she still doesn't like to snorkel there. She actually prefers Lido Beach. When the waters is clear, we have seen many sea critters walking on the bottom at Lido Beach.
