My Bug man says he doesn't believe the in wall equipment is worth using. My home is 8 years old and has two ports on the side of the house. Should I find another exterminator or is he "right"?

Thanks,
Calvin

All I can tell ya is the we don't have 'em in our house. The perimeter is treated and I've yet to see a bug in the house.

What type of treatment do you use? Our former owners used Home Defense on the perimeter outside and inside.

We keep hearing that it is just as effective as commercial companies.

Our new home has them, but everyone I talk to says they don't work--including our trusted pest control company. I saw the tubes installed. The rubber tubes are smaller in diameter than a pencil and a powder is forced through them at 125 pounds per square inch. The pressurized dust leaks out of the tubes in leaves the dust in the inner wall. That would be great if that is where the bugs were, but in my experience, bugs go where the food is.

I think the tubes are an ok idea. It's my understanding that they shoot liquid, not powder, into the tubes and that the tubes only have openings at the areas of your home where bugs be lurking, like bathrooms and the kitchen. I saw the tubes in place during the construction of my home, and they seemed to go mostly around the perimeter of the house. We have been in our house for one year, and have not seen a single bug, spider or ant inside the house, and surprisingly, only one palmetto bug in the pool screen area.

I would much rather have the tubes than to have an exterminator come into the house and spritz poison around the rooms.

The bug person for our hoa only sprays Talsar both in and outside. He does in every other month however I found delta dust if I see any bugs works well. This summer with all the rain may be why I did notice tiny bugs. There is a place in GA which has reviews on pest products the pros use.

Great post, thanks! I have an adopted cat. I hate the idea of him being exposed to poison. I always thought the idea of shooting small amounts of pesticide into the walls was far better than spraying in the house.

If I move to a house with in wall treatment, I'll sure try to use it!

The poisons they use in the house are non-toxic to humans and animals, only bugs,
