If a snow bird has a car registered in Fl and another car registered in another state and wants to reverse the registrations between states how is that done? Is it even possible?

I'm not a dmv staffer, but I played one on tv once. I think it's not doable. I don't think there's a reciprocity transfer between states.

I'd make a visit to your local DMV for the run down.

Two separate transactions. There is no "swap" possible. It involves re-titling of each car in the respective state, and probably paying a bunch of fees to EACH state.

Of course you could *sell* one car to one family member, and *sell* the other vehicle to another family member. Of course I', assuming banks and payoffs aren't an issue. In short, it's going to be expensive in both states, no doubt.

Also you could simply sell each car in each state and re-purchase other vehicles for each respective states Just pocket the proceeds and go shopping, but again, no way around sales tax in new purchases.

There is a possibility to "trade in" each vehicle and more than likely you'd pay tax on the difference.

Confused yet ?? lol

Sell the damn things

Fr the car coming into Florida. You would have to pay the registration fee, but you could move the license plate. As to the car going the other way, depends on the state law.

Correct about transfer of the plate from the FL car to the incoming one,,,but that's only saving on the tag.
