Now this is man made. Enterococcus bacteria comes from human and animal waste. Leaky septic tanks, public utility line leaks, livestock, pets, wildlife, dumping sewage into the Gulf, ect..

Well, clearly man-made environmental messes are not nearly as interesting to discuss as naturally occurring messes...like Red Tide.

Now you just sound bored, like you're trying to stir the pot and no one's biting.

I just assumed it was a by-product of all the dead animals.

I found it shocking that none of them wanted to jump on a man made pollution topic, but would rather argue that Red Tide is man made. Real pollution is a snooze fest...not as exciting as trying to convince people that Volcanoes and Earthquakes are due to man made pollution, global warming, climate change, plastic straws, ect..

Anyways, since this forum is to sell homes anyways, doesn't matter much. It is good for potential homebuyers here to know that we do have REAL pollution problems, and not just algae and seaweed.

Potential homebuyers should also stay far away from the 2 main County Landfills due to millions of pounds of dead fish being taken there from all up and down the coast. 1 of them is in Lakewood Ranch!

Technically, the Manatee County's landfill is located south of State Road 64, 1 mile east of I-75 at:

3333 Lena Road
Bradenton, FL 34211

It is near Lakewood Ranch, it is not IN Lakewood Ranch.

You cited a half a dozen sources of polution that would require regulations and enforcement. I'm all for both, but that requires money for local and state government enforcement and this is FL, remember. "If you build it they will come".

I lived in Brooklyn NY and went to Coney Island for a beach. That water couldn't get any more polluted. When you stood in ankle deep water, you couldn't see your toes. Beach was never closed for any reason. Closing Sarasota beaches is ridiculous, especially for the reasons given.

Interesting Folks..... https://science.nasa.gov/science-new...001/ast30aug_1

New research links huge African dust clouds with the "red tides" that kill millions of fish along the Florida coast each year.
