Here's a list of fun things I've found that are going on in the Sarasota - Bradenton - Venice area this weekend:
DECEMBER 1 - JANUARY 2
Wintertime Fun at UTC -- mall offering an ice skating rink and other fun winter activities, tickets for skating available online at $17/person (skates included).
DECEMBER 1 - JANUARY 3
Park At St. Armands Circle -- a winter wonderland with ice skating, carriage rides, live entertainment. Tickets $10 - $20. Mon thru Thurs 4 - 9 pm, Fri thru Sun 12 - 9 pm.
DECEMBER 26 - JANUARY 5
Selby Gardens Lights in Bloom -- holiday lights, childrens arts & crafts + activities, food available to purchase, cash bar. 6:30 - 9:00 pm, various price packages.
DECEMBER 28 - 31
Sailor Circus Holiday Spectacular -- over 100 children & teens perform circus acts. Tickets $15 - $30, various show times, 2075 Bahia Vista, Sarasota. Info at:

SATURDAY
Sarasota Farmers Market -- downtown at Lemon & Main, 7 am - 1 pm.
Central Sarasota Farmers Market -- corner Proctor & Beneva, 8 am - 1 pm.
Bradenton Farmers Market -- on Old Main Street (400 12th St W), 9 am - 2 pm.
Venice Farmers Market -- at the City Hall, 401 W Venice Ave, 8 am - 1 pm.
Summer Hours: 8 am - noon.
Live Music at Lakewood Ranch Waterside Place -- runs 6 - 9 pm.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Celebration -- Venice's Centennial Park at the gazebo, 6 - 7 pm, bring lawn chairs (and blankets).
Christmas Eve Service at Bradenton's Riverwalk -- service at the Mosaic Amphitheater, 6 pm.
Christmas Eve Scooter Breakfast -- people on scooters gather at the Coffee Carrousel, 1644 Main in Sarasota at 8:30 am for breakfast.
Christmas in the Park at Whitaker -- serving a hot lunch and giving out toiletry bags, new and gently used clothing, blankets, food gift cards, bus passes, flash lights, batteries, new bikes and locks, backpacks, tents and much more to our homeless neighbors. 9 - 11 am, 1455 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
Lots of area churches will also be hosting Christmas Eve Candlelight Services.
SUNDAY
(Please note that most of the farmers markets will not be open on Christmas Day.)
Lakewood Ranch Farmers Market -- Waterside Place, 10 am - 2 pm.
The Meadows Farmers Market -- At the Meadows shopping village off Honore, 10 am - 2 pm.
Siesta Key Drum Circle -- at Siesta Key beach every Sunday about an hour before sunset.
Polo at Lakewood Ranch -- Season over, back Dcember 19th for a new season of polo matches.

The Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Show -- free show, starts 2 pm, 1602 Ken Thompson Pkwy by Mote.
Pinecraft Christmas Parade -- informal gathering of neighbors with decorated golf carts, homemade floats, etc to parade down Bahia Vista near Beneva intersection. Starts at 3 pm.
SOME OF THE UPCOMING NEW YEAR'S EVE EVENTS:
Pineapple Drop -- big New Year's Even celebration in downtown Sarasota, Lemon & Main plus Five Points Park. Carnival rides, vendors, food & drink, live music starting at 9 pm. Runs 1 pm - 1 am. The famous pineapple drops at midnight, followed by fireworks at the bayfront.
Main Street Live New Year's Eve Celebration -- Old Main Street in downtown Bradenton, 6 pm - 12:30 am. Vendors, live music, food vendors, family fun, fireworks
