What's Las Palmas area like? I'm seeing some condos that look interesting.

It's a pretty nice complex. I think it is a conversion, though and that may effect financing. We looked at a few units a Las Palmas, but decided it was too far from the beach. The complex is located directly north of The Meadows, which is very nice. Lots of shopping and restaurants about a mile north on University PKWY. They accept pets, if that matters. We actually talked to a few residents and everyone seemed to like the complex. Everyone we talked with was a renter, we could not find an owner. This might also effect financing (A high percentage of investors).

Look elsewhere. Excessive speed bumps and posted signs everywhere. They ticket cars for no permit, and may tow them, often upsetting casual visitors who didn't register at the office (as posted required). The property manager issues tickets to 1-to-2 hour visitors. Ridiculous. One alternative is Willowbrook in Lakewood Ranch priced less and quieter.

Owners are allowed to have up to two pets (dog, cat) with a weight restriction of 60 lbs. Tenants are not allowed to have any pets.

The cars are ticketed but the towing is used as a threat and is rarely done. The property manager is a bit overzealous and will not be there forever.

But towing does happen, and it cost me $600 before I was able to get my car back. My car was sitting right in front of my apt, by the way.
