Any advice on an insurance agent/company for vehicle and homeowners near the port charlotte area? Just got my updated policy from GEICO and it almost tripled from what I was paying in NY for my vehicle and I have a very clean driving record and credit. I was almost floored !!!!!!!!!!! I expected it to go up some, but not like this...........

Yikes! and Geico has some of the cheaper rates in town. For Homeowners you might want to try Allstate, Satin Jones, 941-575-1110 or AAA, 941-627-1544

When I see the standard of driving here compared to NY I can understand why the insurance companies load the premiums BIGGER RISKS!

Just another data point here: we had a quote from GEICO earlier this year vs. State Farm and Geico was more than double State Farm for identical coverage. You just can't tell how insurance companies will underwrite you- always shop around.

The only thing that we were aware of that affected our State Farm rates was a discount for having homeowner's insurance with them as well, but I think it may have reduced the auto insurance premium 10% at most. The GEICO rep was shocked at the difference, but like a real sales trooper asked if we would like them to keep the quote 'just in case' we changed our minds.

I used the same agent that SoFLGal noted from State Farm, and they have much better pricing than we have with Travelers insurance here in Baltimore. I wanted to have all my cars insured by All State and Satin, but they only cover the cars in Florida. We are going to look into something different with our cars up here in MD.

It really is! I know a couple of real estate agents that you have to keep an eye out for ((especially if your on the road!)) No wonder there are so many people there with white hair in SWFL! I always wondered about that, but now I know the answer. (You helped pull everything together for me!) {{{Maybe I shouldn't have said that - you know who might be reading this! }}}
