My wife and I are looking to leave to Northern Virginia (DC) area and Savannah is a prime condieration. I want to get a feel as to the job market. My wife does medical records/billing management and I do
IT networking contract services (logical and physical).

I don't believe housing with be a major issue. Any input in welcome.

thanks
Glenn

My wife and I (lesbian couple) are also strongly considering moving to the Savannah area. We've vacationed there more than once and love the area. We're giving up our 4bed 3bath home in the suburbs for a bit more urban lifestyle closer to the historic or downtown area, with less outdoor space to contend with. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure what to say. What are you expecting with your move here? Shopping sucks, weather sucks, most locals suck, finding a good paying job sucks. Finding friends sucks, too. I can't even make friends at work because apparently I'm too white. All the new people I started with made friends but not the lone white girl. I'm sorry, red girl, as they call me. The only good thing is the ocean, not on the weekends.

I realize that your whole life probably doesn't revolve around your sexuality, but you might find a contact somewhere on this website who could give you more insight. Gay Savannah Online Magazine

My handful of lesbian friends seem to be happy here. Try renting before you buy. You will probably enjoy living in the historic district.

There are a number of threads here regarding various neighborhoods. There is no "gay" neighborhood, per se, so you'll just have to go on what you enjoy the most.

I disagree. Not every one or every thing here sucks. You're looking at the glass half empty and since you aren't happy with your surroundings, you are assuming everyone else will have the same experience. Not true. Maybe you should get out more and try to find an environment where you will fit in more. That and I would strongly suggest changing the depressed "everything sucks" attitude.
For the record, I'm not happy with everything Savannah has to offer either and I happen to think the drivers here have the mentality of 5 year olds, but I DO take the time to appreciate what Savannah DOES have and enjoy my time here aside from the ocean at Tybee.

Wow! What a miserable attitude, I can't rationalize with you. All anyone can say to you is:

Neh, You Suck!

Simmer down people. Though not everyone appreciates Savannah like we do, we each have our own opinions... even if some of those people have negative attitudes.

Let's get back to the original question posted....
