Savannah bus station (greyhound) (Oglethorpe: dorms, buses, safe)

Hi,
I intend to visit Savannah in a few weeks, as I travel around the US this summer. However, I was wondering whether the bus station (on W Oglethorpe Avenue) would be relatively safe place to wait, for two backpackers waiting for a 10.10 pm bus leaving the city. I've heard some rather unpleasant reports about greyhound buses and stations across the country, so just wondered if it would be wiser to avoid being there at night.

The bus station is not particularly safe, but I don't think you'll have any problems if you pay attention.

It's in a fairly clean looking area between a housing project and student dorms. The station is in highly visible location near the ramp to the bridge across the Savannah River, and the walking route to and from downtown, which is about three or four blocks away, is well-traveled by auto traffic and fairly open. I wouldn't be afraid to wait there or walk to it with a friend.
