The wheel, the printing press, explosives, the lever, radio, TV, computers, etc etc.......phooey. Let's hit on the REALLY important stuff. What are your most and least fav of the inventions nobody seems to remember or wants to talk about? eg for me:

BEST:

ketchup
paper towels
jeans
zippers
sneakers
ziploc baggies
"Pam" or similar spray-on cooking sprays
coffee makers
grilling forks with a temp. sensor built in
velco
duct tape

WORST:
ties
high heels (S.O. asked to put that one in)
jeans w/buttons vs zippers (??)
those #$@ little condiment packets that fast food places have

I don't know about "worst", but the bagel slicer seems awfully trivial. You really need something to hold the bagel while you cut it?

Best:

Bifurcated needle.

It's really, really hard to immunize billions of people on the planet to eradicate terrible diseases like small lox, etc. The real breakthrough was the bifurcated needle that could rapidly administer the proper dose of vaccine to people and was cheap as heck to make.
