Merry Christmas everyone!

Just wondering if this is normal in these parts. When I turn on the water in the kitchen or the bathroom I get very strong odor or chlorine. I have been here for a year and this is the first time I have noticed it. Is this a treatment issue? I live in a condo complex in Issaquah/Sammamish.

I went to visit some friends in Bellevue a few years ago and couldn't believe how bad the water was, thick, bubbles that just sat there, absolutely diabolical! (Looked like "dippity-do")

"This is your water here in rich Bellevue, this "glop"? (And in this state!)

It's been awhile, but I always found the water in Issaquah pretty good.

Perhaps they went a little overboard in the treatment or do this periodically?

Did the water company have anything to say?

Thx

Your local water utility would be the people to ask. Unless you've noticed a sensitivity to other chemical odors lately. Do your home cleaning supplies smell any stronger to you, than they used to? Some people do develop multiple chemical sensitivity later in life.

It depends on the provider. There are two in Sammamish. Ours is toward the north (Sahalee) end, and has been great tasting for the 26 years we have lived here. Friends down by Pine Lake are on the other district and theirs is more of a chemical taste. I had a business in Bellevue and the taste was so bad there that I got a bottle/water cooler service.

Thanks for the input. I'm a mile from Pine Lake.

The tap water in Western Washington is one of the best in the country, so apparently you got the short end of the stick.

If city water system... the taste is really depending on what treatments they do locally, so it's not a reflection of the water quality in the area. I would try a filter device on the tap or pitcher system before resorting to bottled water.

Seattle gets its water from the protected Cedar River and South Fork Tolt River Watersheds. If you're not tied into Seattle's water system, you're getting it from somewhere else.

Sorry, but I was wrong. We both have the same water district, I have the different sewer district. Still, the water quality being fairly similar there could be taste differences because of the various aquifers and tanks and because to meet the demands of growth, the District connected to the regional water system (Seattle Public Utilities) in 2006. When that water is added in it requires additional treatment and chemicals, and most of it comes in from the Issaquah end of the water system.
