Hi guys! Trying to plan my visit. My wife and I are going to Seattle in mid-May. We were originally planning to go on a day trip to Mount Rainier but after consulting with some of y'all it seems like that may not be such a good idea (depending on snow and weather).
Our alternative would be Olympic. Would you know if it's possible to take a day trip from Seattle? We know that it's significantly larger than Rainier NP, but if it's doable is there anything we must see? Thanks in advance!!!

You can get to Hurricane Ridge and back in a day. Amazing views. Plus there's a ferry ride involved if that's a novelty to you. I wouldn't recommend going all the way to the Hoh rainforest and back.

I don't think Mt. Rainier would be bad in May if you have your heart set on it. I took my first trip there in May and it was still a great experience.

We have done it, but more often we spend the night in Sequim and then have time for a long walk on the trail that may take 2-3 hours or more, depending how far you go. One good way to do it is spend a night at Lake Quinault, then get up early, go to the Hoh Rainforest for a couple of hours, then Hurricane Ridge. The drive through Forks and along Lake Crescent is beautiful. If it's dark by the time you leave the park check into the Quality Inn in Sequim on River Rd, and have a great dinner at the Dockside Grill in nearby John Wayne Marina. In the morning you can head back to Seattle, it's about 90 minutes to the ferry.
