Seattle has lots of good, dog friendly hotels BTW. The Marriot Residence Inn by Union Lake is an absolutely awesome place to explore Seattle. You're fairly close to downtown, Greenlake, and the U-Distrcit. The views on the Lake are awesome (especially at night,) you get an awesome view of the Space Needle there. There are a couple of good seafood places across the street, both of which have a decent happy hour. Plus they have one of the best hotel breakfasts.

depending on the job, they might pay for his relocation. if they do that, they may cover shipping 1-2 cars over here as well as temporary housing for 1-2 months, moving company to move all of your stuff, etc. so you may not have to make as radical of a change.

but if you live in seattle, you can get by without a car. the buses and public transit is pretty good in seattle. the only minor inconvenience is at night when the buses don't run quite as often.

if he gets the job at amazon, he can also get a discount for zipcar so you can use that for the rare instances when you need a car (to haul stuff from costco, etc.).
