I'm coming to Seattle for the first time on Christmas day to visit my brother who is in the Navy. I realize that it's not the ideal day to fly in, but it was the cheapest flight, and it will be nice to spend Christmas with my brother. He doesn't have anything planned on Christmas for us to do, so we decided to meet up in downtown Seattle and stay overnight there.

Will there be any good restaurants open, or places that we could kill time? I assume there will at least be a theater open.

Any help is much appreciated, as sitting around the hotel all day doesn't seem too exciting.

Sometimes the local paper (Seattle Times) will run a list of places that are open. Also, you could check OpenTable for that date/time.

I'm not sure if this will work for you, but the following link if for all the restaurants DT (that use their system) showing that they are open Christmas evening and accepting reservations. I'm sure there are many more that don't use OpenTable, but you'd just have to call them or check their websites.

http://www.opentable.com/opentables....pref=114&fsr=1

Another rule of thumb is that most hotels have a restaurant, and they are generally open on Christmas since people will be staying there.

ETA: there's a Regal Meridian 16 movie theatre DT. Not sure if they're open or not, but certainly worth checking.

Every movie theatre is open on Christmas day. Most Chinese restaurants are also open on Christmas. Chinatown/International District/Little Saigon will have restaurants open, ranging from the House of Hong to the Lemon Leaf to the Tamarind Tree to the Four Seas and more. All walking distance or short bus/rail ride from downtown.
