Next year, I will be moving to the Auburn area from Madison, WI. I am going to be taking classes at the Green River Community College and hopefully working part time. I am looking for some advice as to where to start looking for an apartment. I don't want to be more than a 45 minute drive away from the college, and price is a huge consideration. I'm hoping I can find a place for $700 or less. I have lived in a lot of crappy apartments in decent areas, and that's what I am looking for here. Anyone have a suggestion whete I can start looking?

You can probably find something in Auburn for $700. It's one of the cheaper areas in the city. I'm not sure where your college is, but if it's south King County it won't be 45 minutes away. Not even close. The Seattle metro is compact overally. Very little is that far away unless you're going to Pierce county.

You should find something in that range close to GRCC without a problem. Look into the Lea Hill of the Auburn area. A little further, Covington and Federal Way will have something.

Thanks for the replies! I've never been to Washington, never lived in a big city or its suburbs, or even lived outside of my home state. So this all seems overwhelming right now, and I am concerned that the cost of living seems so much higher. I am really happy to hear that I shouldn't have too much trouble finding a cheap apartment near Auburn! Because if there is one thing I do have experience in, it is living on the cheap!
